Christmas Letter 2008
Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends!
2008 has been a good year and we look forward to the New Year and the changes that will occur. Here's an update:
We have our house on the market to sell (yeah, we know, good timing). When it sells (optimism is good), we plan to move a few miles away into another house that Sarah and Paul are currently renting. They will be moving to Atlanta when they find a house to buy there. Paul began working in downtown Atlanta this summer with a law firm that specializes in defending doctors, hospitals and insurance companies in medical malpractice cases. Until they find a house, he will continue to commute into Atlanta (60 miles) each day. Sarah finished another semester at the University of Georgia and is working away at finishing her degree. Mary just turned two and is the joy of our lives. She loves to come play at Oma and Opa's house and we love having her here.
Devin graduted from the University of Georgia on Friday with a degree in Astronomy and Physics. He is in the process of interviewing for acceptance into medical school and is working as an emergency room techinician at the local hospital. He proposed to his girlfriend, Becky, this month. They are planning a late Spring wedding and we can't wait. We are so happy for them. We love Becky and already feel like she is part of our family.
Jill continues to work as a hair stylist. Cory started the year working for Washington Mutual and ended the year working for Morgan Chase without ever moving out of his office. Both are very active with church responsibilities. Cory serves as the ward mission leader and has loved working with the full time missionaries and with people who are being taught by them.
I am teaching at Apalachee High School. I left Oconee County High School after being there for 10 years. They don't pay into Social Security and I stood to lose a substantial amount of retirement income if I retired from there. So I will teach at Apalachee for at least 5 years so I can draw Roy's spousal benefits when we retire. I miss my friends at Oconee, but my classes are great at Apalachee.
Roy still works at Merial. We are grateful to have jobs we enjoy. Like many others, we have concerns about the economy but don't stress out about it. We trust our Father in Heaven will watch out for us.
We wish all of you a peaceful New Year.
